matter where they're located,
most homes hold four seasons of
gear* Multiply that by each family
member, and it's no wonder an
entryway can easily become a
tangle of outerwear and equipment* That's
exactly what Jim and Julia Brady— and their
daughters, Lila, n , and Claire, 9— faced in
their Yarmouth, Maine, home* “Boots and
jackets in winter, hiking boots in spring
and fall, and swimsuits and boating gear in
summer— there's paraphernalia for every
season and activity,1' Julia says.
When they revamped their back entry, the
Bradys included a tall closet with swinging
doors to conceal long coats and bulky sporting
gear; drawers in the base round up items like
hats and gloves. One wall features a bench
with cubbies below for shoes and pegs above
for coats and bags* A bench in the center of
the room hides storage under its seat lid.
